General Guidelines for Instrument Use in MEMS SIG

Below are the general guidelines in place for training/usage of instruments within the MEMS Shared Instrument Group. These are the minimum requirements to use systems. Depending on the application and system configuration, stricter guidelines may be enforced.

1. Two hour training session with lab manager in which lab manager demonstrates the system and software and discusses safety concerns. This could take more or less time depending on the amount of method development required. By the end of this session/sessions, we should have a method developed and saved for you to use in the future with these samples.

2. Two hour training session with lab manager in which you run the instrument and lab manager observes to ensure that you are comfortable with the instrument.

3. At this point you will sign a document acknowledging that you have been trained and are comfortable with the system, and can be set up as a user for the system and added to its google calendar so that you can schedule time on it independently.
